Architect Manuel Aires Mateus embraced the invitation to design a new collection for CUTIPOL, a brand he had long admired. Inspired by its refined aesthetic, he sought a balance between the clarity of classic lines and the quiet sophistication of contemporary design. Rooted in memories of his grandmother’s cutlery—especially a wide, deep spoon and the elongated form of a traditional portuguese fork—the collection reinterprets familiar shapes with a modern sensibility.
Through a process of simplification and careful shaping, AM (2025) emerges with pure lines, subtle volume and ergonomic ease. The result is a model that honours tradition while presenting a distinctly contemporary elegance, reflecting the harmonious dialogue between the timeless and the new.
