Echoes of the Land, Winemakers of Portugal

An intimate look at the wine-making soul of Portugal

The story of Echoes of the Land, Winemakers of Portugal began in 2017, when Vivian Bibliowicz was invited by Wines of Portugal to explore the country's wine regions.

What began as a professional trip quickly turned into a revelation. Portugal enchanted her with its diverse landscapes, its people and, above all, its wine – not just a product, but the voice of the land and time.

That first encounter sparked a deep connection. As a journalist specialising in food and wine, Vivian returned several times, visiting wineries from north to south.

In each one, she found stories worth telling: families with centuries of tradition, young winemakers challenging the status quo, and cooperatives supporting small communities.

In 2020, driven by emotion and curiosity, she moved to Portugal to immerse herself even further in the essence of its wine world.

Thus was born the idea for this book: a portrait of Portugal through those who dedicate their lives to wine. She did not want to tell a single story, but rather to create a mosaic of nuances – from historic wineries to small producers in little-known terroirs, from innovative projects to cooperatives that strengthen local economies.

Echoes of the Land, Winemakers of Portugal is more than a book about wine: it is an exploration of identity, tradition and passion. Through these pages, readers will discover that each bottle contains not only a flavour, but a story, a landscape and a heritage passed down from generation to generation.

This book is a tribute to Portugal and to those who make its wine an echo of the soul of the land.
