Forge de Laguiole knives are the ultimate expression of quality based on traditional craftsmanship. Handmade using techniques dating back to the early 19th century, these knives express history itself through their extremely high quality and beauty. Forged exclusively from French steel and crafted by excellent Master Knifemakers, these knives undergo manual quality controls using techniques used in jewellery making.
Surrounded by lakes, mountains and the magnificent steppe of the Aubrac plateau, Forge de Laguiole is rooted in a tradition that has been perpetuated for centuries. Legend has it that Emperor Napoleon Bonaparte himself thanked the people of this region for their bravery, allowing the use of his imperial coat of arms - the bee - which still adorns Laguiole knives today. With the two World Wars that devastated Europe in the 20th century, production was seriously jeopardized, but in 1987 Forge de Laguiole emerged as a stronghold of the vast knowledge and artwork associated with these iconic knives.
Today, Forge de Laguiole projects its tradition in collaborations with illustrious designers such as Philippe Strack or Andrée Putman, elevating and perpetuating its deep history.
